In class, the students are learning about habitats and wildlife conversation. Every living thing needs five things to survive in its habitats: Food, Shelter, Water, Air, and Space.
Scholars had fun exploring and expanding their learning beyond the classroom walls! Bonding with furry friends was a bonus, too.

Tuesday, January 17th, 2023: We might have some future engineers on our hands! Citizenship & Science Academy of Rochester STEM Club students put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test. Atoms were given 20 minutes to design a boat out of Legos that could float on water without sinking. After the time was up, each boat was tested on the water!
STEM club provides an authentic learning experience that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics using a real-world application of problem-solving and develops critical thinking skills.
Tuesday, January 17th, 2023: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr had a dream that everyone could be friends. In honor of MLK Day, students watched videos and read a story about the life and legacy of Dr. King. Atoms learned the importance of kindness and friendship through the famous "I Have A Dream Speech." They also had the opportunity to write and draw about the meaning of friendship and how they can be a good friend to their peers.
Monday, December 19th, 2022: Before the Holiday break, atoms in KC learned about 3D shapes like cubes, spheres, cylinders, and cones. Students got to put this knowledge to great use by creating 3D shapes out of playdough. Hands-on activities like this are essential, and we love incorporating learning and fun here at SANY!
Tuesday, December 20th, 2022: “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax; all you need is a book!”
One of our second-grade scholars, Avery Cole, showed our Kindergarteners just how much magic they can find in a book by reading to them. You’re never too young to experience the joy of reading. We are so proud of Avery for showing leadership and mentorship while helping with our effort to promote reading practice and fluency in our kindergarten classes.
