CSAR Atoms Step Back in Time with Hands-On History Experience

Kindergarten Scholars at Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse Learn About Early Life During a Field Trip

Friday, May 16th, 2025: Citi

During the visit, students explored the museum on a self-guided tour, strolled through the scenic grounds, and interacted with historical interpreters dressed as colonial-era residents. These interpreters brought history to life, offering students an engaging glimpse into everyday life in the 18th century.

Throughout the day, students participated in hands-on activities that deepened their understanding of early American life. They had the opportunity to try their hand at making cheese pie, churning butter, and crafting brooms; experiences that connected them directly to the skills and traditions of the past.

In addition to the interactive workshops, students were delighted to see various farm animals up close, including goats, sheep, chickens, cows, and oxen. These encounters provided further insight into colonial agriculture and animal care.

This enriching field trip blended history, science, and agriculture into a meaningful learning experience. Students walked away with new knowledge and a stronger connection to the people and practices that shaped our nation’s early history.
